I am passionate about advocacy and giving under-represented groups in society; particularly women and young people a voice which can break down barriers and effect change.

My summit is a great opportunity to ensure our world leaders hear the voice of young people in the United Kingdom and for them to see how much more can be achieved when partnering with young people and enabling them to contribute on issues which affect us all.

I want to make a real difference by representing and empowering young people as a delegate to voice our concern and problems faced by the world today.

Global Economic Crisis means that most governments have tight budget. Many people are still uncertain about their future and that’s why we need a stronger global partnership to stop the GEC happening again. I would like to break down barriers, learn from the other delegates – their cultural backgrounds, how they deal with problems, learn from their mistakes and solutions.

I’m almost certain the youth delegates will differ on certain problem, solution and policies, but our overall agendas are the same – To build a better future for us and generation to come

I want to make sure that youth are heard and valued by the decision-makers as they often feel alienated by the depth of global issues and feel powerless. Through My Summit, I hope to change this attitude and inspire young people to be active with such issues. Personally I have worked on climate change policy with NGO ‘Consumers International’ and am a DFID Youth reporter. I am also particularly interested in women’s empowerment, this has lead me to set up the grassroots project “Arohon” with the aim of improving women and girls’ education in Bangladesh. As part of the delegation I look forward to ensuring the voices of young people in the UK are heard and given the consideration they deserve.

I’m passionate about global health. I consider that poverty and disease perpetuate one another and therefore seek to be an effective change agent through the work I undertake. I’m Executive Director of an international youth led organisation, Global Forum 40, aimed at equipping young people to tackle the HIV/Aids pandemic. I’m also the Project Director of Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland for the worlds first Climate Change and Health Programme, directed at making healthcare more sustainable. I believe that there should be intergenerational equity and as the next generation we must become responsible stakeholders in our own future.

Specialisms: Health / Medicine, HIV/AIDS, Climate Change and Health

I have volunteered and worked in the sustainable development sector since I was 16, facilitating the journeys of young people as they create and run sustainable development focused community projects. I am committed to sustainability in my personal actions and my work, which includes running my own campaign to tackle free newspaper waste in London and acting as environmental officer at my university. I am delighted about becoming a delegate to this conference because I want to represent and communicate the views of my peers and I on what international governance should be doing to tackle the issues of food security and climate change among other major global issues..

Specialisms: Environment, Agriculture & food, Communications

I have participated in a youth delegation to Slovenia as part of the Slovenian 2008 Youth Presidency, and represented UK youth at the European Youth Forum 2009 in Paris. I hope that participation as a delegate will broaden my knowledge of key G8 and G20 themes, whilst providing me with key negotiation and communication skills with a view to facilitating my transition into a future political-based career.
